This book is a Russian translation of Isaac Asimov's book Building Blocks of the Universe. The book is the classics of the popular science genre. It is an overview of all the elements in the Mendeleev's periodic table of elements, that were known to the date the book was first published (i.e. to 1957 I think). Both the prose is very good and scientific facts are accurate, which makes the book very interesting and easy to read. Some modern authors tend to "forget" about the scientific contribution of Russian scientists. In contrast, Asimov is not one of them. He paid tribute to scientists of all over the world, who contributed into discoveries of the chemical elements. For example, he underlines, that Dmitry Mendeleev is the creator of the periodic table and accurately predicted three elements, that were later discovered.
